Activities

Rock - climbing

alt

The main feature of club events is rock climbing. This can be in the form of leading (as in the picture) or top-roping.

Here, Tom climbs Crack and Corner at the Roaches.

Mountaineering

alt

Generally a mixture of mountain walking and ice climbing, this is the activity from which the club takes its name, and with good reason.

Shaggy and Will demonstrate in Scotland - the club's big trip of the year.

Ice - climbing

alt

The picture says it all - this is seriously good fun; extreme sport at its most exhilirating! We organise several ice climbing trips throughout the year, technical kit provided.

Bouldering

alt

Bouldering is low level climbing, on short hard "problems".

It is a great way to develop technique, as well as being a sport in its own right.

Indoor Climbing

alt

On Wednesday afternoons we meet down at Redpoint. There is a wide selection of bouldering, top roping and leading routes - but the climbing is always intertwined with some hardcore socialising.

Training

Climbing is great fun but can be dangerous if people are not properly trained.

The club subsidises all manner of training, from basic first aid and rope work, to SPA and mountain safety.

Dressing - up (1)

Once a year, UBMC members put on their finest kit and head to the Lake District for the Annual Dinner, a traditionally social venture, with occasional climbing!

Socials

Our social team has a fun filled night planned every fortnight. Form pub crawls to Lazer Quest, there’ll be something for you!
