Find rock climbing partners on Climbfind

Looking for climbing friends? www.climbfind.com helps you meet climbers at your local indoor climbing centre, find places to climb outdoors and share your passion for rock climbing.

Mondays at Creation, Wednesdays at Redpoint

For those of you who have not heard the exciting news, as of Monday 26th October we will be climbing indoors twice a week.

Mondays will be at Creation Climbing Centre from 6pm onwards - www.creationwall.co.uk (£3.50)

And we will be continuing at Redpoint every Wednesday from 1pm onwards - www.redpointclimbingcentre.co.uk. (£3.50)

From now on we will not be organising transport to the climbing walls, you will need to get together in groups and make your own way there. By all means please utilise the forum to meet other people to share a taxi/offer lifts to.

Any questions of for more information talk to a committee member.

Welcome to the University of Birmingham Mountaineering Club website
alt

UBMC is a Guild of Students society which offers students the chance to enjoy traditional climbing, sport climbing, bouldering, mountaineering and caving. We offer an equally impressive social calendar with events running fortnightly. The club warmly welcomes all novice and experienced climbers. All the necessary gear and training is provided along with a healthy dose of enthusiasm and encouragement.

Autumn Term

Welcome Freshers

UBMC wants you! No matter your level of ability or past climbing experience you’ll find yourself a warm welcome in this climbing club. The Committee have been working hard all summer to ensure your first foray into University climbing life is as action-packed, diverse and cheap as possible.

As the largest Guild of Students society you can be guaranteed to meet like-minded individuals with similar interests and abilities. At the same time, our fortnightly club-wide socials ensure that everybody gets to know everyone else whilst having a great time in the process.

With membership fixed at the meagre sum of £30 UBMC is the most affordable sporting group to join at the University of Birmingham. Combine this with free use of the extensive stock of club gear and you’ve got maximum fun for minimum cost.

Wednesday 30th September: Freshers Climbing Meet

Our first fresher’s indoor climbing meet will be taking place on Wednesday 30th September at Redpoint in Birmingham. Groups will be meeting from outside the Guild of Students from 1pm onwards.

This is the perfect opportunity to sample what the UBMC has to offer; everyone is welcome from the novice to the experienced. For more information look under the ‘Notices’ section of the forum or check your Facebook inbox if you met us during Fresher’s week.

Information on where you’ll be climbing can be found at www.redpointclimbingcentre.co.uk

Wednesday 7th October: Freshers Social

Join UBMC members new and old for the first official social of the calendar. Team social have been working solidly to make this one a night to remember. Don’t miss this perfect chance to meet all the members of the club and get involved with the party side of climbing life. For more info keep a close eye on the forums, your Facebook inbox and two sexy young ladies handing out flyers at Redpoint!

Stanage 9th-11th October: First Outdoor Climbing Trip

If Carlsberg did outdoor climbing trips, they’d probably not be as good as this one. Join us for a memorable weekend in the Peak District for a chance to transfer your indoor skills onto real rock. Again, novices and experienced alike are welcome; all training and climbing gear will be provided.
