(page still a work in progress)

When do you run climbing sessions?

We climb indoors on a Monday evening, and Wednesday afternoon.

Our climbing sessions are super laid back and - unlike what you might think of a sport society - you don't need to turn up to every single one

Membership

What are the advantages of being a member?

Depot

What is depot?

Depot is the indoor climbing center that we climb at on Monday evenings. It is a bouldering center, meaning there is no ropes involved as you don't climb too high off the ground.

Depot is in the center of birmingham and is a short walk from New Street station. It can be found here on google maps.

How do I get there?

For the first few weeks of term we will meet at the Guild and get the train there with you. This will be advertised on our facebook page.

Once you know the way, or have figured out how to use google maps, we encourage you to make your own way there with a couple friends!

How much is it?

Entry is £5 and shoe hire (if you don't have your own climbing shoes) is £3.

There may be an additional small cost as a registration fee if it is your first time climbing there.

When is it?

Monday 18:00-22:00. Although you can come and go at any time during then.

What do I need?

Come in suitable gym clothing. Leggings/tracksuits are ideal as they stretch more than jeans.

If you have your own climbing shoes, chalk bag or anything else, feel free to bring it along.

Redpoint

What is redpoint?

Redpoint is the indoor climbing center we go to on Wednesday afternoons. Here you will learn how to safely climb using ropes.

We will start by just getting you climbing lots then we will teach you how to belay so that you can climb without supervision from us.

We also offer lead climbing training during term 2.

Once you know the way, or have figured out how to use google maps, we encourage you to make your own way there with a couple friends!

How much is it?

Entry is £5 and shoe hire (which I highly recommend if you don't have your own climbing shoes) is £3.

There may be an additional small cost as a registration fee if it is your first time climbing there.

When is it?

Wednesday 13:00-16:00, but most people turn up at about 13:30 and it's fine if you're a little later still.

Sometimes we run on until 17:00.

What do I need?

For your first three sessions, or as a member, you can borrow a harness from us to climb in. You can hire climbing shoes from the center for around £3.

Come in suitable gym clothing. Leggings/tracksuits are ideal as they stretch more than jeans. It can sometimes be a little chilly so maybe also bring a hoodie/fleece/jumper.

If you have your own climbing shoes, chalk bag or anything else, feel free to bring it along.

Trips

When are they?

We run outdoor climbing trips every other weekend through first and second term.

Most of these trips will be Friday evening through to Sunday evening but we also run day trips which don't involve an overnight stay.

Where do you go?

We go all over the country! Check out our trip reports to see where we have been recently!

How much are they?

Day trips are around £10-£15 and weekend trips are £35-45!

This cost includes travel, accommodation and all climbing gear that we provide. You will be lead throughout the day(s) by volunteer club members who have undergone training so they can do this safely.

How do I sign up?

There will be an information post on the Tuesday the week before the trip and then signups for the trip will be released on our facebook page and website at 19:00 on the Thursday.

E.g:
- info post on Tuesday 10th
- Signups at 19:00 on Thursday 12th
- trip list released on Friday 13th
- trip on Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd

What do I need to bring?

Check out our trip kit list here. There will also be posts on the event for each trip with specific details about the hut you will be staying in.

e.g. some will have cooking facilities and beds or others may mean you need to bring a roll mat to sleep on.

Don't worry, we never stay in tents (unless you want to stay in your own!)

How do I find out more?

Speak to our committee, message the page, keep an eye on our facebook, or read some trip reports about our previous trips.
