UBMC wants you! If you have never climbed before this is an ideal opportunity to try your hand at rock climbing. We are a very active club and climb indoors every week and outdoors every fortnight.
Indoors
On Monday evenings we climb at The Depot, a large bouldering gym in Central Birmingham. It's easy to get there using the University train station and then a short walk from New Street station. On Wednesdays we again meet outside the Guild of Students and travel to our local roped climbing centre Redpoint, which is situated in the north part of Birmingham city centre. It's a short train ride and a short walk to get there, although we usually get taxis or car-share from campus. Here there is the opportunity to climb on top ropes or to boulder.
Outdoors
Every other weekend we get outdoors for weekend trips, which can be just about anywhere in the UK. A few of our personal favourites include Wales, the Peak District and the Lake District but we're always looking for new places to explore. We aim to make your climbing experiences as diverse, exciting and as cheap as possible.
Socials
As a fellow stoat it is customary to join us on our fortnightly socials, which are held on fortnightly Wednesdays and often consist of going to the pub together. That said, our social secs work very hard to keep us all on our toes with their costume and theme ideas. At the end of the day we are probably going to find ourselves in Snobs one way or another...
How to Join
As one of the largest Guild of Students societies you can be guaranteed to meet like-minded individuals with similar interests and abilities.
With membership fixed at the meager sum of £35 UBMC is the most affordable sporting group to join at the University of Birmingham. Combine this with free use of the extensive stock of club gear and you've got maximum fun for minimum cost.
